About the Symposium

Christian Schools International is hosting its second annual Bible Instruction Symposium in Washington, DC, this coming February. This exclusive professional development opportunity is limited to 30 different CSI member school teachers from 30 different schools around the world.

The Symposium will focus on ways Christian school teachers can advance and improve Bible instruction for their students. In addition, attendees have an opportunity to visit the Museum of the Bible and experience a new way of understanding the cultural and historical importance of the Bible.

Christian Schools International has a long history of providing highly respected and exceptional Bible curriculum. The Symposium will continue to enhance the ways CSI supports our member schools in Bible education.

Museum of the Bible

Museum of the Bible is an innovative and global educational institution that aims to provide an unparalleled experience by creating one of the world’s most technologically advanced museums. The museum, which is in Washington, DC, only three blocks from the US Capitol Building, is housed in a 430,000-square-foot building and recently opened in November 2017.

Museum of the Bible also focuses on Bible engagement through a scholar’s initiative, traveling exhibits, and a Bible curriculum.

What is the objective of the Symposium?

The CSI Bible Instruction Symposium was formed to champion and advance Bible instruction in Christian schools. CSI desires to serve our member schools by providing high-quality professional development opportunities to teachers of Bible to guide best practices in daily instruction.

What are the dates of the Symposium?

The Symposium will take place February 13–15, 2019.

Where will the Symposium take place?

The Symposium will take place at the Hyatt Place Washington DC/National Mall and Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC. Holding the Symposium near the Museum of the Bible will add to the experience by allowing teachers to experience the cultural and historical understanding of the Bible in an amazing immersive environment.

Who can apply?

The application process is open to all teachers of Bible, grades K–12, who have 4 years or more of teaching experience. CSI will select 10 elementary teachers, 10 middle school teachers, and 10 high school teachers to attend the Symposium.

What are the application requirements?

All interested teachers must complete the application form which, in addition to basic information, asks for three references and a completed essay question.

What is the registration fee?

The registration fee is $350 for each participant selected to attend.

What does the registration cost include?

The registration fee includes flight reimbursement (up to $500), lodging at Hyatt Place Washington DC/National Mall, and most meals.

What will the grade level sessions focus on?

The grade level sessions will focus on topics pertinent to quality Bible instruction. For this year the themes for the different grade levels are as follows: elementary—Bible Literacy for all Children, Middle school—Teaching the Bible through Enactment, Movement, and Drama, High School—Teaching the Hard Stories of the Bible.
